Being defined by the coast in the West, North and East, only the south boundary needs to be defined by a line.  In this case there is a longstanding southern boundary as shown in the map from Mangawhai in the east to the northern shores of Kaipara Harbour.  Included with this district are the same offshore Islands as are included with the Tai Tokerau District Māori Land Court.
